About the role

Build the client portfolio of a fast-growing security company

DEFION Security protects more than 1,000 organisations, including names like AFAS, AZ Alkmaar and SURF. With 20+ years of security expertise and 100+ certified specialists, we are one of the leading managed security providers in the Netherlands. And we are growing fast.

As a New Business Developer, you are at the heart of that growth. You work closely with our Prevent, Detect, Respond and Governance teams to match prospects to the security solution that truly fits. Pentesting, security monitoring, incident response: you understand the portfolio and translate it into the language of the client.

What you will do

  • Actively bring in new clients for DEFION's portfolio: pentesting, security monitoring and incident response
  • Open doors yourself: leverage your network and take cold contacts from first call to closed deal
  • Understand risk profiles and match prospects to the right Managed Services (Prevent, Detect, Respond and Governance)
  • Prepare high-quality proposals and quotes: clear, compelling and client-focused
  • Organise workshops, lunches and masterclasses for prospects and existing relationships
  • Attend sector events to actively build new contacts and identify opportunities

We also expect you to:

  • Make technically complex topics accessible to non-technical stakeholders
  • Stay committed to a deal: long sales cycles do not put you off
  • Know when to bring in a colleague or specialist to win a client
  • Embrace the unknown: finding and converting new clients energises you

What you bring

Must have:

  • Proven sales experience in cybersecurity: building pipeline and closing deals
  • Experience with managed security solutions: MDR and pentesting
  • University or university of applied sciences level of education
  • Strong command of Dutch and English
  • Independent and proactive: you do not need daily supervision
  • Results-driven: you dislike losing a deal and do everything to win the next one
  • Genuine interest in cybersecurity: you keep developing your knowledge

Nice to have:

  • Broad understanding of the Dutch cybersecurity landscape and relevant legislation such as NIS2, DORA and ISO 27001
  • Experience with complex B2B services with longer sales cycles
  • Network with C-level decision-makers in sectors that still lack adequate security solutions
